Loss of reticle when hunting

This has been posted many times but it is extremely irritating. When hunting and targeting a mob not visible on your screen you lose your reticle and need to play around with the camera or switch between 1st and 3rd person to make it visible again. This bug has been around since many years and there are many ways to trigger it other than what I wrote above.
